UALR ASBTDC Lead Center

Janet Roderick
State Director

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center has been under Janet Roderick's direction since 1994. Roderick received both a Bachelor of Science in marketing/business education and a Master of Science in vocational/distributive education from the University of Wyoming. Prior to joining the ASBTDC she was the state director at University of Hawaii Small Business Development Center from 1990 to1994 and University of Alaska Small Business Development Center from 1986 to 1990. She has experience in marketing, retail, personnel administration, and higher education instruction.


 

Victor Redditt
Associate Director

Victor Redditt joined UALR ASBTDC in September 1982. Redditt assists the director in the areas of policy development, budget planning and administration, grant and contract administration, and personnel administration. He has held several positions since joining the parent organization of the ASBTDC in 1976, including interim director. He has Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.


Laura Fine
Assistant State Director

Laura Fine joined the UALR ASBTDC in 1989 as Assistant Training Coordinator. She has served as Training Coordinator and was named Assistant State Director in 1993. Prior to joining ASBTDC, she was a trainer with Levi Strauss & Company. Fine received a master's degree in public administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.


Heather Robinette
Consulting and Market Research Manager

Specialty Areas: Financial Analysis, Family-Owned Businesses, Capital Acquisition, and Growth Strategies for Existing Businesses

Heather Robinette has more than 10 years experience as a Business Consultant with the UALR ASBTDC. She received a master's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Bachelor of Arts in finance and economics from Ouachita Baptist University. Robinette is a Certified Business Advisor®.


Michael Singleton
Innovation and Market Research Manager

Specialty Areas: Accounting, Market Research

Michael Singleton joined the Henderson State University SBTDC in 2004 and moved to the Lead Center in 2007. He served as a Business Consultant before being named Innovation and Market Research Manager in 2010. Singleton has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Henderson State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law. Singleton is also a Certified Business Advisor®. His prior work experiences include retail management and accounting and human resource management for a manufacturing firm. Michael was awarded the 2007 State Star distinction by the national Association of Small Business Development Centers.


Rudy Ortiz
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Business Planning, International Trade, Minority Business Ownership

Rudy Ortiz came to the ASBTDC in March 2010. Rudy worked 20 years in different technology industries and spent 15 years in various business environments. He has extensive small business consulting and teaching experience and previously served as director of the Corpus Christi (Texas) Small Business Assistance Center and assistant director of the Salt Lake (Utah) Region Small Business Development Center. A fluent Spanish speaker, Rudy has an MBA with an emphasis in International Business from Texas A&M and has completed Level I and II toward his export and trade counseling certification. He is a certified technology counselor as well as a certified incubator manager.


Rebecca Norman
Innovation Consultant

Specialty Areas: SBIR/STTR Proposal Writing and Editing

Rebecca Norman came to ASBTDC as a graduate assistant in the Technology program and became a full-time Innovation Consultant in November 2009. She has a master's degree in professional and technical writing from UALR and has master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Previously she was a technical writer at Dassault Falcon Jet. She is a certified technology counselor and a Certified Business Advisor®.

Elizabeth Russell
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Franchising, Financial Management, Financial Analysis, Media-Based Businesses, Exporting

Liz Russell joined the UALR ASBTDC as a graduate assistant and became a Business Consultant in December 2010. She has a bachelor's degree from Rhodes College and received her MBA from UALR. Liz grew up working in family businesses, has 25 years' experience as a small business owner, and worked in the book publishing field before joining the ASBTDC. 


Nancy Knighten
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Interactive Marketing, Social Media

Nancy Knighten joined the ASBTDC staff in 2008. She was promoted to Business Consultant in 2010. She has a bachelor's degree in management and completed a Master of Business Administration degree at UALR in 2010.


John Twyford
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Finance, Management 

John Twyford joined the ASBTDC in March 2011. He previously operated a management consulting practice and was a member of the business faculty at Arkansas State University-Newport. Twyford earned his graduate degree in management from the University of Arkansas. He has years of banking experience and is a graduate of the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking and the University of Oklahoma National Commercial Lending School.


Whitney West
Business Consultant

Specialty Area: Marketing

Whitney West joined the ASBTDC staff in 2009. She was promoted to Business Consultant in 2011. West has a bachelor's degree in marketing and is pursuing her MBA at UALR.


TJ Thompson

T.J. Thompson
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Accounting, Financial Analysis

T.J. Thompson began working at the UALR ASBTDC in 2011 as a graduate assistant. He was promoted to Business Consultant in 2012. Thompson has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is pursuing his master's of accountancy at UALR. Previously, he worked in a small business for five years as well as in the banking and insurance industries.


 

Shannon Roberts
Training Manager

Specialty Areas: Marketing, Public Speaking, Event Planning

Shannon Roberts joined UALR ASBTDC in November 2007 and was promoted to Training Manager in 2010. She has a Bachelor of Science in marketing from UALR. She has experience in small business ownership, event planning, insurance, and public speaking in the private sector.


Gwen Green
Communications Coordinator

Specialty Areas: Publications, Public Relations, Media Relations

Gwen Green came to ASBTDC in 2008. She has broad communications experience, having worked in newspaper, magazine, corporate, and nonprofit settings. She received her bachelor's degree from Lyon College and earned a master's degree in journalism from The University of Mississippi.


Timothy Lee
Training Specialist

Specialty Areas: eCommerce, Disaster Preparedness, Veterans

Timothy Lee joined ASBTDC in June 1995. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in workforce education and development from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. He holds three additional associate level degrees in applied avionics, liberal arts, and emergency management. Timothy is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from active service in June of 1995 at the rank of Master Sergeant. He received the 2001 State Star from the national Association of Small Business Development Centers.


Maradyth McKenzie
Training Coordinator

Specialty Areas: Strategic Planning, Event Planning, Public Relations, Volunteer Management

Maradyth McKenzie started at the UALR ASBTDC in October 2010. She earned bachelor's degrees in politics and business/economics at Hendrix College and has worked in nonprofit development and political campaigns.


Wendy Orvis
Customer Service Specialist

Wendy Orvis came to ASBTDC in August 2010. She received her associate's degree from Arkansas State University - Beebe and her bachelor's degree from Park University. Wendy has five years of experience as a legal secretary, five years of experience as an inventory specialist and machine operator for a Searcy manufacturer, and most recently 12 years experience with a satellite distribution company, where she was an accounts receivable manager.


Maria Gerba
Accountant

Maria Gerba joined the ASBTDC in May 2012 after working as a contract accountant for Winrock International. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from Henderson State University.


Chris Kleinhofs
IT Technical Support/GIS Specialist

Specialty Areas: Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems

Chris Kleinhofs came to the ASBTDC in January 2011 from the Institute for Economic Advancement at UALR, where he was a GIS analyst. Kleinhofs has a bachelor's degree in computer information systems and a second bachelor's degree in spatial information systems, both from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He previously worked for the UALR GIS Applications Laboratory and the University of Arkansas at Monticello Spatial Analysis Laboratory.



 

Arkansas State University SBTDC

Herb Lawrence
Center Director

Specialty Areas: SBA Government Lending, Cash Flow Analysis, Veterans, Social Media

The ASU ASBTDC has been under Herb Lawrence's direction since November of 1996. Lawrence obtained an MBA from the University of Central Arkansas (1984). He served on the faculty at Lyon College (then Arkansas College) in Batesville, and in the administration of University of Arkansas Community College in Batesville. He was awarded the 2000 Resource Partner of the Year Award by the SBA and the State Star for Arkansas by the Association of Small Business Development Centers in 2002. In 2010, the SBA recognized him as Arkansas' Veterans Small Business co-Champion of the Year. He is a Certified Business Advisor®.


Laura Miller
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Business Plan Assistance, Loan Proposal Development

Laura Miller joined the ASU ASBTDC in September 2000 and has more than 11 years of business consulting and economic development experience. She obtained an MBA from Pittsburg State University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and previously worked as a small business consultant at the Pittsburg State University Small Business Development Center. She is a Certified Business Advisor®. Laura received the Arkansas State Star award from the Association of Small Business Development Centers in 2008.


Robert Bahn
Business Consultant

Robert Bahn joined the Arkansas State University ASBTDC in September 2009. Bahn, a Navy veteran, has more than 30 years of banking experience in operations, senior management, lending and marketing. He is a Certified Business Advisor®.

Lois Travis
Administrative Assistant

Lois Travis has been with the ASU ASBTDC since its beginning at ASU in 1981. She serves as the initial contact for our small business workshops. She has been employed by ASU for more than 30 years.



 

Arkansas Tech University SBTDC

Nathan George
Center Director

Nathan George became ATU ASBTDC Center Director in April 2012. Nathan, a 1976 graduate of Arkansas Tech, owned and operated a cattle, poultry, and timber farm for 14 years and has 17 years of experience in public education. He also served in the Arkansas legislature from 2004-2010, representing House District 61.


Jennifer Terrell
Interim Training Coordinator

Jennifer Terrell joined the ASBTDC in September 2011. She is a recent graduate of Arkansas Tech University, earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a primary focus in management/marketing. She has interned with Arkansas Business Publishing Group, Clinton Foundation, and Sherwin Williams.


Christina Williams
Administrative Assistant

Christina Williams began at ATU ASBTDC in June 2011. Williams graduated from Arkansas Tech in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She is currently pursuing her master's in multi-media journalism.

Kelly Massey, SPHR
Center Director

Specialty Areas: Human Resources Management/Development, Large Multi-Site Manufacturing Management, Lean Manufacturing, Market-Based Management

Kelly Massey joined the HSU ASBTDC in 2008 as a Business Consultant and became Center Director in 2010. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Henderson State University. Massey is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources Management with 11 years prior experience in manufacturing and the hospitality industry and is a Certified Business Advisor®. He received the 2010 State Star award for Arkansas from the Association of Small Business Development Centers. In 2012, he was named the national Small Business Development Center Counselor of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.


Leah Hasley
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Small Business Ownership, Event Planning

Leah Hasley joined HSU ASBTDC in April 2009. A Certified Business Advisor®, she became a Business Consultant in 2010. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Henderson and has owned a small business in Clark County for more than 20 years. She previously worked in the business aviation industry.


Tara Thornton
Training Coordinator

Tara Thornton came to the HSU ASBTDC in September 2010. She has a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Ouachita Baptist University and an MBA from Henderson.

Stacey Weeks
Administrative Assistant

Stacey Weeks joined the HSU ASBTDC team in November 2011. She previously worked in the HSU registrar's office.

Felicia Bozeman
Center Director

Felicia Bozeman has been with SAU ASBTDC since August 2005 and became center director in 2010. She received both a Bachelor and a Master of Business Administration degree from Henderson State University. She became a Certified Business Advisor® through the University of Toledo.


Megan Whitehead
Training Coordinator

Megan Whitehead came to the SAU ASBTDC in October 2010. She received her bachelor's degree in agriculture business from SAU and has experience in sales and customer service.



 

University of Arkansas, Fayetteville SBTDC

Larry Brian
Center Director

Specialty Areas: Business Planning and Management, Financial Planning, and Start-up Requirements

Larry Brian joined the ASBTDC as a Business Consultant and soon after, in March 2007, was promoted to Center Director. His previous experience includes ownership and management of several small businesses including a financial planning business. He has more than 19 years of banking experience including tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University's Graduate School of Banking.


Bill Fox
Business Consultant

Specialty Areas: Human Resources, Marketing, Management and Operations

Bill Fox joined the UAF ASBTDC in May 2007. He is a former small business owner and has lending experience as a banker/loan officer with Bank of America. Fox has also worked in higher education as director of a student enterprise program at the University of Pennsylvania, as coordinator for a Disability Services program at Broward (FL) Community College and as a job developer for Florida Atlantic University. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Florida Atlantic University and an MBA from West Virginia University. He is a Certified Business Advisor®.


Trish Kalbas-Schmidt
Training Coordinator

Trish Kalbas-Schmidt came to ASBTDC in 2008. Previously, she worked for Utah State University as the project manager for the NSF ADVANCE grant and as an adjunct lecturer. Kalbas-Schmidt graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater with a master's degree in Corporate Communications and the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse with a bachelor's degree in sociology and communications. She holds a certification in training and development from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and is a Certified Business Advisor®. She received the Arkansas State Star award from the Association of Small Business Development Centers in 2011.


Ashley Chua
Administrative Assistant

Ashley Chua has more than 14 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from California State University at Long Beach. She joined ASBTDC in 2008.

Lindsay Henry
Center Director

Specialty Areas: Marketing, Rural Entrepreneurship

Lindsay Henry joined the UAM ASBTDC in August of 2009 and was named center director in February 2011. She previously worked at Central Wire Industries where she was responsible for international sales. She also has experience in the non-profit arena in community outreach and fundraising. Lindsay earned a business administration degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. She and husband Matt own a small business, Lucky Cleaners of Star City.

Landon Grimes
Training Coordinator

Landon Grimes came to the UAM ASBTDC in June 2011. He has experience in banking, customer service, and education and holds two degrees from UAM, a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in teaching.



Misty Hall
Administrative Assistant

Misty Hall joined the UAM ASBTDC in February 2011. She has more than 10 years of experience in sales and customer service.
