ATU’s George Recognized as State Star

Nathan GeorgeNathan George of Dardanelle was honored as the State Star for Arkansas Sept. 5 in Nashville, Tenn., during the 37th Annual Conference of America’s Small Business Development Centers.

George is the center director for the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at Arkansas Tech University.

A State Star is chosen from each state, regional or territorial SBDC program. George and the other State Stars were recognized at a reception at the Grand Ole Opry, followed by an Opry show featuring the Charlie Daniels Band.

George received the State Star designation for contributing significantly to the Arkansas SBTDC program, being an exemplary performer and showing a strong commitment to Arkansas small businesses and entrepreneurs.

He is a 1976 graduate of Tech and has led the ATU center since 2012.

With about 1,000 centers across the nation, America’s Small Business Development Center network is a partnership uniting private enterprise, government, higher education and local nonprofit economic development organizations. It is the U.S. Small Business Administration’s largest partnership program, providing management and technical assistance to help Americans start, run and grow their own businesses.
