DIUx Program Seeks Commercial Solutions to DoD Needs
January 8th, 2018 by Rebecca Todd
The Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx) program provides non-dilutive capital in the form of pilot contracts for commercial innovation that solves Dept. of Defense challenges.
According to the latest SBIR Insider newsletter, Ellen Lord, who will become the new Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, has expressed strong interest in this program.
On its website, DIUX encourages companies to share information about their solutions and staff will respond within 30 days if interested in learning more through a pitch. If DIUx believes there is a good match between a proposed solution and its DoD partners, proposers will then be invited to provide a full proposal. A pilot contract can then be negotiated.
Pilot contracts can include hardware, software or unique services. After a successful pilot, selected companies and any DoD entity can easily enter into follow-on contracts.
