July 15th, 2014 por Rebecca Norman
The Department of Energy is launching a $3.2 millones National Incubator Initiative for Clean Energy (NIICE), according to a recent announcement. The NIICE intends to provide technical assistance and training services to help clean-energy startups move their products closer to market readiness.
DOE will commit most of the funding to three clean-energy-focused incubators to run their programs and commercialization services and to develop best practices for clean-energy incubators that can be replicated nationwide:
• NextEnergy Center in Detroit and Clean Energy Trust in Chicago (partners)
• Austin Technology Incubator at the University of Texas in Austin
• Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator
Remaining funds will be used for a national organization, the Clean Technology Accelerator Program (CleanTAP), which will be led by the Electric Power Research Institute in Knoxville, Tenn.
