The Department of Energy has issued its FY 2016 Phase I Release 2 Funding Opportunity Announcement for the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs.
Letters of intent (required for Phase I application) must be submitted by Dec. 21, 5 p.m. EST. Grant applications to both SBIR and STTR programs must be successfully submitted by Feb. 9.

Department of Education SBIR Phase I
The Department of Education Institute of Education Sciences issued its FY 2016 SBIR Phase I Program Solicitation on Dec. 7. The closing date for proposals is Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. EST.
The RFP number is ED-IES-16-R-0003
2016 priority areas:
- Education Technology Products for Use by Students or Teachers (or other Instructional Personnel) in Authentic Education Settings
- Education Technology Products for Use by Infants, Toddlers, or Students With or At Risk for Disabilities, or Teachers (or other Instructional Personnel, Related Services Providers, or Family Members) in Early Intervention or Special Education Settings
- Education Technology Products Used by School Administrators in Authentic Education Settings or in Early Intervention or Special Education Settings
