NSF Community College Innovation Challenge

The National Science Foundation has launched a new Innovation Challenge specific to community colleges. The competition is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics-focused competition for teams of up to five community college students, a faculty mentor, and a community/industry partner. Interested teams will propose innovative STEM-based solutions for real world problems within one of the following themes:
• Big data
• Infrastructure security
• Broadening participation in STEM
• Improving STEM education
Ten selected teams will have the opportunity to attend the NSF’s Innovation Boot Camp for professional development on innovation and entrepreneurship. Possible prizes include a $3,000 first prize. Team proposals are due Jan. 15, 2015.
