June 2nd, 2015 by Rebecca Norman
The State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI) is a national nonprofit organization that supports technology-based economic development (TBED) and has a dedicated nationwide network of practitioners and policymakers.
Each year, through the Excellence in TBED Awards, the SSTI recognizes initiatives that have strongly impacted state and regional economies. The national competition showcases groundbreaking and successful methods for building tech-based economics.
Awards will be presented to organizations that demonstrate successful local, state, and regional efforts across the following six categories:
- Expanding the Research Capacity
- Commercializing Research
- Building Entrepreneurial Capacity
- Increasing Access to Capital
- Improving Competitiveness of Existing Industries
- Most Promising TBED Initiative
Applications are due by July 15. Awards are made through a peer-based competitive selection process. Eligible applications include any TBED program or practitioner, including non-profit organizations, state and local governments, and economic development councils, among others. Entry fees are $75 for SSTI members and $95 for non-members.
