UALR Global Entrepreneurship Week: Proceso de comercialización para los investigadores

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center hosted Semana Global del Emprendimiento events at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Nov. 16-20.
Daily lunch-and-learn sessions each covered a different topic related to entrepreneurship: “The Social Entrepreneur,” “My Student Startup Story,” “Commercializing Your Research,” and “Market Research Tips and Techniques.”
Rebecca Norman led the session on the commercialization process for university researchers. normando, an innovation consultant with ASBTDC, explained the steps needed to determine the commercialization potential of a research idea, beginning with identifying a problem and whether or not ideas to fix the problem exist. Norman also emphasized the importance of meeting with potential customers and identifying long-term partners and discussed university funding as well as state and federal funding options. She also talked about intellectual property, especially as it pertains to university-based startups.
