Inspired by mesmerizing TikTok videos, Kayleigh Cooper decided to bring bungee fitness to Fayetteville, opening Elevate Bungee Fitness in Fiesta Square in May 2021.
Bungee fitness is a low-impact form of exercise that originated in Thailand and is gaining traction in the United States among individuals with joint problems.
“It’s an approachable form of fitness for people looking for a fun way to get active after having been sedentary, intimidated by a gym environment, or for people who just want something new and fresh,” said Cooper.
“We want to convey that this is a legitimate form of fitness, without making people feel like they have to be in tip-top shape to walk through the door.”
The workouts are fun and inclusive. The bungee cord takes 60% of the body’s weight off the joints, making it accessible for those who are typically restricted from traditional types of cardio and strength training.
When Cooper reached out to the University of Arkansas ASBTDC in Fayetteville, she had already completed training and certification to teach bungee fitness.
The center helped her start Elevate Bungee Fitness by providing help with business planning plus marketing, including professional photography, brand positioning, social media basics, and web design.
