Counseling and Therapy Center Opens in Clarksville
Amanda Jones-Shelton started River Valley Counseling & Therapy, PA in Clarksville with the assistance of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at Arkansas Tech University.
Open since June 2017, the clinic is the city’s first mental health counseling center.
Jones-Shelton, a licensed professional counselor, began working with ASBTDC’s Nathan George the previous summer. She wanted to open her own practice to fill a need in Johnson County.
From George she received one-on-one help with financial planning, writing a business plan, and other startup steps.
“Working with SBTDC assisted me with my financial planning and helping me with organization of this business as a whole. My business plan we created together has been the envy of many,” remarked Jones-Shelton.
River Valley Counseling & Therapy, PA provides individual, relationship, crisis-intervention, and suicide-prevention counseling. They also offer assistance with anxiety, anger adjustment, trauma, and many other mental health concerns.
Jones-Shelton is assisted by Dr. Dana Thomason, who is also a licensed professional counselor. They are both passionate about the mental health services that are now available in the Clarksville area. Their slogan is “helping people navigate the storms of life with hope and support.”
The office is located at 1304 W. Main St., suite A-1, in Clarksville and can also be found on Facebook.
