Hub Stop Gets Manufacturer Started
Jerry Nipper of Rockport designed and patented the Hunters Hanger Hoist (H3), a pulley system for installing and securing a tree stand. Nipper needed a loan to begin manufacturing his product and knew that a lender would require a business plan and financial data.
As luck would have it (or “divine intervention” as Jerry and his wife, Rose Mary, refer to it), in May, Nipper stopped by the Henderson State University ASBTDC’s Mobile Entrepreneurial Hub Powered by Southern Bancorp in Malvern.
New in 2016, the Hubs were created to provide a low-pressure environment for entrepreneurs to hear about the services available to them through the HSU ASBTDC. Nipper learned the center could help him pursue a loan.
Center Director Leah Hasley worked with Nipper to prepare his loan packet, and he was able to secure financing through Farmers Bank & Trust and launch Bullseye Outdoors LLC in just two months.
Since then, the Nippers have worked with Business Consultant Chelsea Goza to take advantage of other services provided by the HSU ASBTDC. Goza compiled market research on the industry and shared tips for marketing. She also recommended and assisted with Bullseye’s website and helped the new business owner identify online marketing platforms most beneficial to sell the H3 and related products.
“I am thankful to have met the folks at the HSU ASBTDC,” said Jerry. “When I stopped by the Hub that day looking for help to start manufacturing my hoists, I had no idea as to the extent of assistance they would be able to provide.”
“The Nippers exemplify the relationship we hope to have with our clients. It is our goal that each client who starts a business continues to allow the ASBTDC to provide resources and assistance for all their business needs,” said Hasley.
