The Department of Defense has released SBIR 19.1 and STTR 19.A Broad Agency Announcements for Phase I Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer applications. Participating components include Army, Navy, Air Force, Defense Health Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Office of the Secretary of Defense/Manufacturing Technology Program (ManTech) and the U.S. Special Operations Command. Applications are due by Wed., Feb. 6 at 7:00 p.m. CDT.
Base Phase I award sizes range between $100,000 and $150,000 depending on component, with project duration periods between 6-9 months. The Army, Navy and OSD have Phase I options ranging between $54,500 and $500,000 for an additional 3-6 months. The Air Force and OSD/ManTech also have Direct to Phase II topics that offer base awards from $1M to $1.6M for 12- 15 month base project performance periods.
All applications need to respond to specific topics within the DoD SBIR/STTR program. Be sure to search these open topics using the DoD Topic Search Tool found here. Applicants can also search prior DoD SBIR/STTR awards to learn more about previously funded research projects in their fields of interest.
