Retiree Ronnie Cook noticed a problem in his corner of Sharp County: a lack of amusement or entertainment options for children or adults.
Cook, an experienced building contractor, had the idea — blueprints and all — to start a go-kart track that would be fun for all ages and bring life to the area.
His idea of building a go-kart track quickly came to life after Cook met with an ASBTDC consultant.
Cook, a resident of Cherokee Village, learned about the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center online. He found that the Arkansas State University ASBTDC offered consulting services near him at the Spring River Innovation Hub once a month.
The A-State center was able to assist Cook with his business plan and financial projections for a loan proposal, helping him obtain the financing he needed.
He opened Booman’s Go Kart Track in October 2019 in Highland.
