Women Excelling in Research, Innovation, Business Will Share Advice for Entrepreneurs
Women who are looking to start technology-based companies can hear from other women who are excelling in research, innovation, and business at “accelHERate,” a free forum presented by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center.
The center will hold simultaneous “accelHERate” events March 7 at the Delta Center for Economic Development at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and at the Little Rock Technology Park. The program begins at 4:30 p.m. in Jonesboro and 5:30 p.m. in Little Rock.
Four women will speak at each location then answer questions.
In Jonesboro:
- Amanda Herget, co-owner of Gearhead Outfitters
- Luna Acosta, manager of A-State Incubator and intellectual property and marketing manager
- Kathy Loyd, executive director of the Women’s Business Leadership Center
- Argelia Lorence, metabolic engineering professor and director of A-State Phenomics Facility
In Little Rock:
- Alecia Hamilton, CEO of The Family Map
- Jessica Johnston-Myers, director of sales development for Apptegy
- Peggy Sissel, founder and CEO of Words to Grow On
- Sharon Ballard, CEO of NuShores Biosciences
Their talks will touch on lessons learned and advice for budding entrepreneurs. Topics will include management and growth strategies, startup mistakes and how to avoid them, key skills for entrepreneurial success, and commercialization funding opportunities through the federal Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer program.
