Innovative entrepreneurs and companies are encouraged to explore research topics within the pre-releases of the Department of Defense’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Phase I programs.
Between now and May 30, prospective applicants can engage directly with DoD topic points of contact with technical questions. The DoD’s SBIR/STTR broad agency announcements (BAAs) will officially open May 31. Applications are due July 1 by 7 p.m. CDT.

The Air Force, DHA, DMEA, and ManTech are offering Direct to Phase II topics for the SBIR 19.2 BAA. Details can be found in the component-specific instructions.
Special Topics
The Air Force is continuing to pilot new processes via “AF Special Topics,” which have shortened technical durations, reduced reporting requirements, and varying award amounts compared to normal SBIR topics.
