Twin brothers Darian and Darius Jarrett grew up in a family that prioritized owning and operating your own business over working for someone else. At the age of 24, the Jarretts have started their first business, Capital City Professional Cleaning, together.
“Business is good, we are always hustling, and we feel we are exactly where we were meant to be,” says Darian.
They launched the janitorial service in April 2019, with support from the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Darian’s mother-in-law once worked at UA Little Rock and knew about the center. She encouraged the brothers to reach out to ASBTDC and make an appointment.
They did and connected with Business Consultant Patricia Long, who provided a step-by-step action plan for them to follow.
“There was a lot we did not know about opening a small business, but the center’s assistance provided us with a solid foundation to build our business the right way,” Darian said.
“Working with the ASBTDC made a huge difference by paving the way and helping us create a game plan, a blueprint, to develop and use to figure out how to open and operate a small business in Little Rock,” echoed Darius.
Always encouraged to tap into their own potential, the two began planning to start a business of their very own at a young age. The seed was planted by their mother, who had a lot to do with the brothers developing a “big dream” mindset and whom they call “an amazing support.”
Darian and Darius’s dream is to build something to pass on to their growing families. Both men are proud fathers and want to be role models for the next generation of Jarretts.
They began their professional cleaning careers at age 13 under the guidance of their stepfather. Capital City Professional Cleaning provides janitorial services to commercial and residential customers throughout Central Arkansas.
They also offer carpet and floor cleaning, move in/move out cleaning, event clean up, window washing, and garage/storage cleaning.
Both men aspire to open other businesses.
Will they return to the ASBTDC for assistance? “Most definitely,” they said at the same time.
“We have set a rule goal for ourselves to make something happen every single day, and it is working for us,” said Darius.
