After a 20-year career in the auto body repair industry, Chris Kessler was ready to purchase his own auto body repair shop.
With assistance from the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at Henderson State University, he bought Baker’s Body Shop in Ashdown when the previous owner retired.
Leah Hasley, HSU ASBTDC center director, worked with Kessler to prepare a detailed business plan and financial projections to present to Regions Bank for the acquisition.
Baker’s Body Shop will continue to offer top-of-the-line auto collision repair and paint. Kessler plans to provide new services and offer added convenience to customers by becoming a direct repair facility.
“Chris is the perfect client in that he possessed the vast knowledge and experience in the type of business he would purchase. My experience has been that these are the most successful entrepreneurs,” said Hasley.
“Owning my own business was scary to say the least. I am thankful that the HSU ASBTDC was available to walk me through the process and to know those services are there for any of my business needs going forward,” Kessler said.
