Jones Mobile Veterinary Service ‘Rolls Over’ to Care for Pets
Based in Fayetteville, Jones Mobile Veterinary Service is the state’s first full-service mobile veterinary clinic.
“Mobile practice allows me to do what I love while decreasing the amount of stress for the pets I treat and the owners that love them,” says owner and licensed veterinarian Dr. Robb Jones. “It also allows me to spend more time with each patient. I love being able to really get to know my patients and their owners.”
The clinic-on-wheels offers procedures and treatments for all pets, including cats, dogs, rabbits, rodents, and reptiles. Jones performs well pet check-ups, sick pet checks, surgeries, vaccinations, and in-home euthanasia, as well as nutrition and exercise consultations.
“We try to stay on top of the latest advances in veterinarian technology, and above all, we remember that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every interaction,” said Dr. Jones. “What we offer that sets us apart is we provide top-quality care right at your door. This is especially important for owners who cannot get their pet to a veterinarian. Whether it is because they have multiple pets, the pet is too big,he or she doesn’t like the car ride, the owner doesn’t drive, or their schedule is just too hectic.”
Most recently the staff veterinarian for the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, Jones is an Arkansas native who earned his degree in chemical engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University. He also completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at the University of Florida.
He never owned a business before. “Our biggest challenge to opening our business was obtaining initial funding and marketing,”Jones reports. He worked through the loan process with Gordon Sasser of Legacy National, assisted by Larry Brian (since retired) of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. “Larry was instrumental in helping me develop my business plan and approach lenders to obtain funding for our startup, and the center provided me with valuable advice on my online presence,” said Jones.
