The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are awaiting reauthorization in Congress ahead of a scheduled expiration date of Sept. 30.
Offered through an array of federal institutions, SBIR/STTR programs aid entrepreneurs and researchers in developing and commercializing technological innovations.
A resolution extending the programs’ funding for two years was recently passed in the House, but SBIR/STTR renewal faces a potential roadblock in the Senate.
